SIA (Higher Institute for Artistic Industries) is a State school at University-level and included in the Institutes for Higher Artistic Training. It teaches design in its widest terms, ranging from products to communications. The school was founded by the Ministry of Education in September 1975 to continue the rich and fruitful teaching experience of the first industrial design courses. Isia is a modern school projected towards innovation and, over the years, its quality has been confirmed by numerous acknowledgements especially at an international level.
The teaching is based on experimental methods and strongly characterised by practical experience in the laboratory. Students wishing to enrol must first pass an entrance exam test and only 30 places are accepted per year. Attendance is obligatory. Most of the teaching staff are well known professionals in the field, while conferences and seminars are held for important personalities from the world of culture every academic year.
